The Institute for Shipboard Education invites adventurers of all ages to explore 10 ports of call on the Origins & Empires Enrichment Voyage December 8, 2012 through January 2, 2013. Participants will transit the Panama Canal and explore the Caribbean and Central & South America on one of the world's fastest passenger ships, the MV Explorer. This unique learning opportunity offers adventurous in-port excursions combined with abundant learning opportunities afforded by our onboard Enrichment Sessions.

Origins & Empires begins in Nassau, Bahamas on December 8 and travels to ports-of-call that include Montego Bay, Jamaica; Cartagena, Colombia; Colon, Panama; Guayaquil, Ecuador; Callao, Peru; Manta, Ecuador; Puntarenas, Costa Rica; Corinto, Nicaragua; Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala; and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico before finally docking in San Diego, California on January 2. Voyage through the Panama Canal and witness the extraordinary technology and history of this engineering marvel. Adventures such as zip lining, kayaking, river tubing, snorkeling, and hiking are balanced with service opportunities, relaxing beach trips, cultural performances, and city tours. And you never know when you might see a pod of whales or a school of dolphins!

Enrichment Sessions aboard the MV Explorer will include discussions on history, biodiversity, cultural traditions, and Spanish lessons.
