|Day 1||San Jose||Upon arrival, you will be met by your Tour Director, who will help you check into your hotel.|
|Day 2||Arenal||Depart San Jose on the Pan-American Highway, stopping to see the monument to Juan Santamaria, Costa Rica's national hero who is credited for saving Costa Rica from William Walker's campaign to overthrow the country in 1856. Continue through farming areas into the cooler cloud forest climate. Arrive at POAS VOLCANO, where you will have up-close views of the enormous crater with its deep, green lake; perhaps you will even see one of its sporadic geyser-like eruptions. Take a short nature walk with your guide through nearby trails and learn about different ecosystems and species found in this national park. Next, stop at [LF] DOKA COFFEE PLANTATION, which has been producing coffee for three generations, for a coffee tour that takes you from seed to cup. Start in the coffee fields, continue to the processing plant and roasting plant, and end with a tasting session. See firsthand how a red coffee cherry transforms into the perfect cup of coffee. After lunch, continue to Arenal, home to ARENAL NATIONAL PARK and the volcano of the same name. Relax at your hotel this evening by taking a dip in the resort's natural hot springs. (B,L)|
|Day 3||Arenal||Today will be spent exploring Arenal and its vast primary rainforest, and learning about its rich biodiversity. Venture into the jungle canopy on the [LF] ARENAL HANGING BRIDGES, which consist of 15 bridges suspended in the treetops and allows your Naturalist to point out various species of plants, birds, butterflies, monkeys, sloths, and other animals commonly found here. On a clear day you will get a 360-degree view of the tropical rainforest, as well as stunning views of Arenal Volcano. Later today, visit the world-famous [LF] TABACON HOT SPRINGS. These natural hot springs feature a hot river that flows through a series of pools of varying temperatures. The hot springs are the result of rainwater heated by magma in the Earth's interior that then rises to surface, taking with it minerals found in the Earth's crust. Enjoy time to relax in the waters that are so beneficial to your skin and body. Later tonight, enjoy an included dinner at the springs. (B,D)|
|Day 4||Manuel Antonio||Today after breakfast, depart for Manuel Antonio, stopping en route for a TROPICAL MANGROVE CRUISE. Enter the Guacalillo Estuary for a cruise down the Tarcoles River, home to one of the largest crocodile colonies in the world. Along with your Naturalist, cruise through the mangrove that provides an important nesting site for birds, including the beautiful scarlet macaw whose brilliant colors (bright orange-red plumage with touches of blue and yellow) and long, pointed tail and wings make them easy to spot as they fly overhead. As the boat approaches the riverbanks, you will get an up-close look at wild crocodiles up to 15-feet long. The Tarcoles River has been recorded to have between 80 and 240 crocodiles per mile of river! Keep your eye out for other fauna often spotted along the cruise, like iguanas, monkeys, sloths, and more. Continue to the Pacific Coast and the town of Quepos. Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant this evening. (B,D)|
|Day 5||Manuel Antonio||Spend the morning in MANUEL ANTONIO NATIONAL PARK, known for its stunning white-sand beaches backed by evergreen tropical forests. With your Naturalist, explore the park, filled with beach vegetation, lagoons, mangrove swamps, 109 species of mammals, and 184 species of birds. Spend time at the park's beaches, taking a swim or searching for sloths, iguanas, monkeys, and millions of colorful marine creatures that call this region home. The remainder of your day is at leisure. (B)|
|Day 6||Manuel Antonio||Today is free to explore the area on your own. Some options include a jungle hike, horseback riding, canopy tours, snorkeling, deep-sea fishing, and much more. Tonight your Tour Director hosts a special farewell dinner and toasts to your journey through Costa Rica! (B,D)|
|Day 7||Manuel Antonio||Your tour ends with breakfast this morning. Please do not schedule your return flights before 12:30 pm. (B)|
